Development of Technology Education Programmes

The Faraday Museum of Technology is a hands on museum displaying static and working examples of old technology. It caters for teachers who want to use our resources to enhance their chosen subject and allow students to explore the museum learning by practical experience.

Young people are encouraged to handle the exhibits and operate the equipment just as their elders did in the early part of last century. Museum staff are on hand to show them how the machines work, explain why people used them and the circumstances in which they were used. The museum does not run formal education programmes or provide science based tuition.

To get the full benefit from your time at the museum it is recommended that some preparatory work is done before your class visit. We invite you to come to the museum and see what we have to offer. Teachers who have made a booking with us are entitled to visit the Faraday Museum free of charge during normal opening hours. Please ask at reception if one of the management team is available to discuss your requirements with you. Alternatively you can inspect our website and look at “COLLECTION' which gives a fairly comprehensive insight into what resources you can expect.

We also welcome student groups for an end of term fun experience which has an educational component without the need for preparatory work.
